The number of regular people who now come and watch us tells us there is an audience and an appetite for something other than another covers or tribute band – as cool as they are. In that vein, I hope you will support us!
We do not buy into paying Facebook or YouTube for views and likes – leave that to the fake pouters and pretenders – the world certainly does not need more of these. Neither do we buy into the culture of buying fake reviews. Mary’s Lye is an honest, hard-working and genuine band where egos are unwelcome.
We have built up a small following through (very) regular local gigs and festivals through 2023 and, in December 2023, we recorded our first EP “Matter of Medication” which can be downloaded from all streaming. Our new double A-side is available this Friday and the second EP, “What Happens in the Underparts” is out next month.
Operating as an originals band in a world that prefers covers and tributes has not been easy. We believe, however, in what we do, and we do not do it for money. Only the best of what we write (or at least our favourite stuff) makes it to the live gigs and the studio. We would never put something out for the sake of filling time. In this way, every note and word has been created, nurtured, loved – and believed in.
